| What is Computer Based Access Control? |
| This is the term given to access control systems linked together and managed through an onsite computer.This makes administering users, time zones and viewing event logs very quick and easy. |
| Do i require a dedicated computer for running the system? |
| No, the software can run on most computers, and can happily run in the back ground, until you wish to make changes with the software. |
| Does the computer have to be on all the time? |
| No, the computer can be switched off at any time. When switched back on, it will then proceed to download all of the events from the doors. Each door unit has a 1000 event memory. |
| Do I need to have a computer onsite? |
| For lower use sites, where changes are not necessarily required on a regular basis, a cost effective alternative can be for Rossells to carry out either scheduled, or as required visits to a site to maintain and alter the system as required. |
| What other benefits are there to computerized systems? |
| Easy User Management |
| The windows based application makes adding, editing and removing users from the system very easy. The software is capable of storing names, departments, addresses and even photos taken directly on a webcam. Their last movements, current position, and timesheet can be called up directly from each users file. |
| Timezones |
| A timezone can be set up for any selection of users, allowing timed access through specified doors, to a schedule that you can completely customise yourself. Doors can even be set to stay unlocked for specified periods of the day, then require a keyfob to be presented after that, e.g. a public access door that needs to be unlocked during the day to allow customers in, but then only allow staff with fobs through in the evening) |
| Event Log |
| Every time a person enters or exits through a door, the software stores and time and details about the event. This means you know exactly who enters and leaves through at any one time. When configured, tamper alarms, door forced, and door held open alarms will also be reported in the audit trail. |
| Clock In / Out Feature |
| The same software that controls door access can also create timesheets for payroll purposes using dedicated clock in and clock out readers. The same tokens or cards used to pass through doors can be used to record their daily times. |
| Intruder Alarm Capabilities |
| The access control systems can be used to unset, or activate intruder alarm systems. Only specified users will be allowed to unset the alarm and enter the building, other users will simply not be allowed access until the alarm is off. |
| Camera Event Reports |
| CCTV systems can be positioned above doors and automatically record for a short period of time as users pass through. Each individual recording can be viewed from the event log in the software. |
| Energy Efficiency Measures |
| If an area is specified as a zone, the software can automatically switch on and off the light when the first person enters the room, and when the last person leaves. |

| The possibilities are endless for what the system can do. From calling lifts, to activating anti-static airlocks in sensitive environments. |
